Omar Gobe Wario:an Emerging Artist.

Born and bred in Borana, Omar Gobe Wariyo, is a human rights activist, a development advocate and a born artist. He spent
most of his adult life teaching at elementary schools in the former Borana Administrative Province. Later, after graduating
with a degree in Economics he worked as an expert in the former Borana zone and as head of Guji Zone Food Security Desk.
Since 2005 up until Oromiya HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Office was dissolved in 2007, he was working as Director of
Programs and Planning Department. Omar has a hobby; he paints during his spare time, a hobby that could have been a
lucrative career for some people in some countries. He never thought of making a living by painting pictures of beautiful
Oromiya landscapes, cultural ways of life, and the faces of beautiful Oromo women both in traditional and modern customs.
After the Oromiya HAPCO was dissolved, he wanted to use the opportunity of having not too much work to do to learn the arts
of modern painting under the supervision of the man he adores and appreciates the most, Captain Lammaa Guyyaa, one of
Oromiya’s most accomplished painters of all time. He lives in Dukem with his Wife and learns the art of painting in Captain
Guyyaa’s Art Center in Bishooftu. We have the honor of presenting to the public of some of the works of this emerging artist.
